The Mascom Top 8 is by far the largest footballing event in Botswana, in attendance and prize money. The tournament which follows the local premier league is made up of the top 8 performing teams that face off each other in this tournament.
Only a few ago, the last semi-final games were played in Gaborone to determine which teams would proceed to the final stage of the tournament. The first team to score themselves a spot in the season 7 finals was Township Rollers after winning their second leg match up against Jwaneng Galaxy FC, the defending champions. The second team which will be facing Township Rollers FC at the finals is Orapa United, the season 5 champions. We ran a poll to see how many of us knew which teams will go against each other at the finals and 91% had it right, these are true Botswana football fanatics. The other two options that we had were Gaborone United vs Jwaneng Galaxy and BDF XI vs Security Systems, which scored 5% each.
Our second poll was centered on employee psychometric tests, checking how many of us have undergone such tests. A psychometric test the psychological measurement of an individual. Certain employers take their employees through this in order to determine their capabilities and make sure that they have the right candidate joining the team. Though one may think this should be compulsory for every employee, the results to this poll show that a great number of people I Botswana have not done this. 80% of all respondents have not undertaken a psychometric test yet while only 20% have. If all respondents are employed then there could be a great mismatch in some workplaces.
