Nigel Amos Scoops a Gold Medal at the World University Games

Botswana’s 2012 Olympic silver medalist, Nigel Amos, made the country proud by scooping a gold medal at the just ended 27th edition of the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.

Amos clocked 1:46:35 in the 800 metre race and he was the first Motswana to win gold in this competition.

According to head of delegation, Raj Rathedi, Otukile Lekote and Gable Gable Garenamotse were the first Batswana to win medals (bronze) at the World University Games, which were held in Beijing.

Rathedi said the closing ceremony would be held today (July 17). He said the 28th edition of the World University Games would be hosted by South Korea in 2015.

Meanwhile, south central region scooped position one at the just ended Botswana Intergrated Sports Association (BISA) Senior School competitions. They won a total of 132 medals with 52 gold, 45 silver and 35 bronze.

Position two was won by the south region while north central settled for position three. Position four went to the north region.
