Rollers rolls to the final!

The sizzling Mascom Top 8 season 7 was on again this weekend, and gave Batswana the second leg of the country’s most prestigious tournament. The first teams to go at it were Township Rollers Fc who were playing on home ground against Jwaneng Galaxy FC following their 2-2 draw in Lobatse last week.

Township Rollers had a great home ground advantage with the team’s supporters filling up the popular Panda stadium seating as well as the grand stand. The current aggregate also had them at an advantage so the odds weren’t much against them. A few minutes into first half Ofentse Nato missed a wonderful goal opportunity that had supporters off the stands. With their hopes revived Township Rollers gave Jwaneng Galaxy FC, defending champions of the Mascom Top 8 a run for the title. Motsholetsi Sikele finally opened up the Jwaneng Galaxy FC goals with a wonderful finisher in the 26’’ minute giving Township Rollers FC the lead.

The second half of the match was no different with Township Rollers FC keeping the lead and pounding hard on Jwaneng Galaxy FC defence. The defending champions were seemingly ill prepared for this second clash against the esteemed Township Rollers FC with their goal attempts falling way behind those of their contender. A few substitutions into the second half made no change to their status quo leaving Township Rollers FC in the lead. Jwaneng Galaxy FC was however able to score a goal in the 82’’ minute by Terrence Mandaza, equalizing the score. The aggregate was however still in favour of Township Rollers FC who progressed to the final of the Mascom Top 8 Season 7 finals.
