Setsile wins big at BPL awards

Jwaneng Galaxy and gifted Zebras attacking player Thero Setsile on June 27 emerged the star of the 2018-19 Botswana Premier League (BPL) awards as he was bestowed with three honours including the converted Player of the Season accolade. His club side Jwaneng Galaxy also lived up to its name providing a constellation of stars which shined on the night.

Set to join South African National First Division (NFD) side TS Galaxy, the highly talented 23-year-old Setsile, also won the Player’s Player of the Season as well the Top Goalscorer awards for his exploits at Jwaneng over the past campaign.

It was a night to savour for his team; Jwaneng Galaxy which also produced the Coach of the Season, Miguel da Costa, as well as the Goalkeeper of the Season, Ezekiel Morake, after a season which saw them finish second on the log for a third consecutive season.

Setsile amassed a total of P200 000 for his awards, the most lucrative being the Player of the Season award which is worth P100 000, with his two other awards carrying a P50 000 each.

Meanwhile, the Young Player of the Season award went to Bakang Leshona of Mochudi Centre Chiefs while the Referee of the Season award was won by Keabetswe Dintwa. The Assistant Referee of the Season award went to Ookeditse Keitseone.
