Let’s donate blood
The year has begun and obviously, when a year begins it’s because one just ended. 2020 has ended and we are a couple of weeks into 2021 and it’s off to a good start.
2020 had us see the introduction of Forbes 30 Under 30 in Botswana. The initiative pick out young people, both male and female who are exceptional and making a notable difference in what they do. These Youth are pick out and entered into a larger competition across the continent and possibly the whole World. Last year, Botswana had over 5 Youth selected into this competition.
As 2021 began, this group of young people took it upon themselves to make an even bigger, different, difference in their country starting in the Southern Region. Their area of focus was Gaborone, Lobatse, Molepolole and Mochudi but very much have a desire to make it countrywide with the right support. The Team decided to promote blood donation as the year begun as the National Blood bank was running dry yet people need blood. The Holidays, though restrictive, always result in a greater need for blood donation to support the lives of those in need.
Due to this, multitudes flocked towards these activations which started at the Head Office of the National Blood Transfusion Center. Both young and old people heeded the call to donate blood and the Forbes 30 Under 30 contestants were very proud of this. When engaging with one of them, Mr. Tony Mautsu of Socialight, he said that “we too will donate blood in the various locations and as for I, I will donate in Mochudi as it is my home village.
