FNBB Kazungula Bridge Marathon makes life changing donation

The First National Bank of Botswana, FNBB, once more ascerts itself as a local corporate leader as it headlines the first ever, Kazungula Bridge Marathon. The bank announced its sponsorship a couple of weeks ago in partnership with Obert Fitness, the event owners, and organisers.

The iconic Kazungula bridge is the product of a bilateral partnership between Botswana and Zambia. The 2 countries agreed to partner on this project in 2012 and commenced construction of the bridge in December 2014.  The bridge which is approximately 9kms long and 18m wide is extra dosed with a railroad to accommodate rail travel in the future. The envisioned railroad will connect Kazungula in Botswana with Livingstone in Zambia.

The project, being welcomed by citizens of both countries and more over the customs personnel, and truck drivers that frequently use the route, is even more welcome by the sports and fitness community in Botswana hence the marathon. Mr. Obert of Obert Fitness, the CEO of the marathon has successfully roped in other sponsors alongside FNBB including Mascom Wireless, Spar, HATAB, Botswana Tourism, Coca Cola and Halfway Toyota to mention some.

As though the great work of the marathon is not enough, the FNBB Kazungula Marathon Team donated over 200 pairs of shoes to the Chobe District Council. The shoes were received by the Director of Basic Education Mr. Andrew Dintweng and will be distributed to various primary schools in the district. The shoes were collected by the marathon team at one of their activations in Gaborone where walkers were asked to donate a pair of shoes as registration to participate in the Matsieng Bush Walk that was held in the capital city.
