Education and Sport are one!
Sport is a global uniter so that definitely applies here at home. With the COVID-19 virus locking down everyone at home, we also have our footballers locked down and that means no entertainment. All other athletes are also locked down across the globe nothing on television either.
The education sector has also suffered the same fate with students and teachers all at home. The path between these two however met at a CSR donation locally by the Mascom Top8 in partnership with Orapa United football club. The donation was of sporting equipment to Supang Memorial Primary School n Letlhakane la Orapa and the day was filled with motivation from the football stars.
The team Captain, Mr. Thabang Mosige encouraged the studnts to continue sport and not only football, saying that “it is no longer a thing of entertainment only but a profession”. He also encouraged the students to be disciplined and passionate about both education and sport as they would otherwise fail unless they did. Respect for their elders and teachers are words also echoed by the football star.
His team coach, Mr. Mogomotisi Teenage Mpote also shared some otivating words to the students on the day. He gave them part of his life story that they too went through school and eventually chose football as a career. He said long ago, they were denied the opportunity to play and they couldn’t play their sports duign school time as they can today. In closing, he said that the students should work hard at both school and sport and grow to play for bid teams like the Zebras.
The donation that included footballs, team kits and nets was well received by the students and it’s management and determined to be put to good use.
