Ministry efforts bear fruit - Tshireletso
Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development’s efforts to establish partnerships so as to meet the needs of the community are bearing fruit and reaching out to all corners of the country.
The remarks were made by Assistant Minister, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso at Mahalapye recently at an occasion where China General Business Association in Botswana donated 300 blankets worth around P60 000 to the less privileged members of the society.
Ms Tshireletso assured donors that a thorough assessment would be done to ensure that the blankets benefit most deserving people, where their impact would be significant.
The blankets, she said were highly appreciated as presents for the beneficiaries.
Ms Tshireletso said she was impressed by the fact that the donation was done willingly as they were never approached to offer such assistance and therefore demonstrated the true spirit of love, care and compassion for the disadvantaged.
Ms Tshireletso said it had become imperative for government, private sector and the civil society to pull together in responding to the needs of the less privileged people in our society.
She said the donation was in line with Vision 2036 pillar which calls for ‘Prosperity for All.’
She further stated that the gesture by the China General Business Community in Botswana was necessary as it continued to support a pillar of the past Vision 2016 of a compassionate, just and caring nation.
Furthermore, Ms Tshireletso appealed to the rest of the business community to emulate what the Chinese business community in Botswana had done and respond to the needs of individuals and the community.
Director of China General Business Association in Botswana, Mr JiangJun Zhou has applauded government for giving the business community a platform to give back to the general public by helping those in need. Mr JiangJun said as businesses, they believed in a core value of sharing and giving back to the society.
He said doing something practical for the people was their social responsibility and obligation.
He said the event signified that as the business community, they paid attention to the development of rural areas and the living conditions of the people.
He further stated that the association would continue to support charitable projects.
