Firstly I would like to apologise to our readers for having been absent for the past three weeks; it’s that time of the year when we have to attend weddings every weekend (I speak marriage unto your life!!!)
Two weeks back I and my team attended the BOMU music awards, an annual ceremony that rewards artists for their crafts. This inspired my desire to blog about Recognition and Rewards, the only 2 things better than food. These are benefits given over and above the basic pay; which is to say, salary/wages are NOT“rewards”, but an obligation.
Employees respond to appreciation, especially when it’s expressed through recognition of their efforts because it confirms their work is valued. A simple “thank you” (even better, accompanied with gifts or vouchers) goes a long way and will not only make your employees feel good, but will actually benefit your business in the process.
