With all the over-indulging we participated in during festive I am starting to see the impact not only on my waist but also on my skin. My skin always gives me away, if I’m not eating right or if I’m just not happy, my skin is the first to expose me to the world. January is always a positive month, New Year, new me, new habits and the likes; which is perfect for a detox. Truth is most of us have a hole in our purses so a budget friendly detox is always best for us. My detox method is very simple and hopefully it will help you detox as well.
Activated Charcoal Detox
This has to be one of my favorite ways to detox. Bitter concoctions that make your tummy runny are not only unhealthy but they’re extremely uncomfortable and disrupt your day-to-day living. I bought my activated charcoal at Health Alternatives, you can find them at Rverwalk and Molapo Crossing. I use about 1 teaspoon on the activated charcoal and slowly add water. It’s completely tasteless and should be taken on an empty stomach. I take it first thing in the morning before I start my day and I will do this for 5 days.
I am not big on exercise so I always find an easy way to get in my exercise without feeling like I’m ‘exercising’ (that makes sense in my head). If you are a gym person i would definitely suggest that you go to the gym and with the help on an instructor you can come up with a gym plan that will last you beyond your detoxing plan. I have signed up for Zumba classes and they’re not only fun but they’re also very intense; I walk out of those classes drenched in sweat. So basically you can’t be eating and drinking right and not doing anything to keep the blood pumping. If anything you should at least take a walk in the evenings or mornings. If you live along the western bypass the people who walk along that road should be inspiration enough.
Doctors, personal trainers and our parents have been preaching the importance of hydrating for the longest time. Water is actually the best way to get rid of any toxins so make sure you have a constant supply of it. For those who aren’t too thrilled about the taste of water (yes, there are people like that) add some lemon juice or fresh fruits/ vegetables to your water. It doesn’t have to be a lot, just a bit to add flavor.
So this is all im doing to detox; no castor oil, detox teas or anything of the sort. I'm of the belief that you're better off detoxing naturally than using other toxins to get rid of old toxins. I could be wrong but this has always been my go-to detox method. Feel free to share yours with me!
