A bright future for Botswana Volleyball
Botswana Volleyball has been alive for years, perhaps even longer than most sporting codes. The sport has grown over the years thanks to sponsors such Mascom, our leading mobile telecommunications service provider.
Last night we witnessed the awarding of the best players, teams and coaches of the National Mascom Volleyball League at Boipuso Hall, Fairgrounds. The league had finally come to an end and the winners had to shine. The love and passion that these supreme athletes show towards their sport could not be missed. The players are all tall but not lanky, both men and ladies. The Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) has broken down the categories into teams, best coaches, best players and the best media practitioners across the various fields.
Before the teams, players and coaches could get their prizes, the Honourable Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Mr. Thapelo Olopeng took to the stage to commend the sponsor, Mascom, for the great support not only towards Volleyball but all other sporting codes. The Minister further called out other corporates to support sport development in the country just as Mascom is. He also mentioned a new resolution given out to sport’s governing body BNSC, to restructure their organization(s) to make them leaner in order to make sure that most of the funds are diverted towards actual sport development.
The future, with this effort in mind, will assure that the various sporting code’s development increased growth. All athletes can continue to pursue their professional careers and support themselves, their loved ones and hopefully develop other athletes.
